Vets Newsletter March 2023

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
The tournaments are coming in fast & furious. Two have been held since the last newsletter, Bowral, and Bayview, both reports later in this issue. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the Bowral tournament but Virginnia Hewitt, VWGA Vice President, was there in my stead. Two more tournaments will be held in March, Port Macquarie, and The Coast. These will be reported in the next newsletter.

In the January newsletter I noted that I would report on the AGM that as held last November. As I have said the meeting went very well and we managed to get a quorum. Having delegates attend by zoom is a great benefit and certainly means that more country clubs can be involved.

There were a few questions that were asked and here is the committee response as per our December 2022 meeting.

1. Why is the AGM now held on a Wednesday instead of a Friday?
Answer: From now on the AGM will revert to a Friday.

2. Number of players and a shot gun start for Metropolitan tournaments.
Answer: We prefer to have no more than 120 participants. A shot gun start is purely a domestic matter. This should be a negotiation between the delegate and the club. The VWGA are happy to play in any format.

3.Co-opting local ladies to help with tournaments on the day.
Answer: We already do try and include any local ladies who wish to help on the day. Mainly this is the delegate.

4. Cammeray is due to re-open in its new format in Autumn 2023. Eva hopes that the VWGA show
their support when it does re-open.
Answer: The VWGA committee are very keen to support Cammeray, how we do that is still under discussion.
