Vets News June 2022

I thought this time I wouldn’t have to lament about the weather. Just last month In Sydney it had been sunny and windy. The sun had some comfort value, but it was the wind that was helping to dry out the courses. Cold and crispy mornings were also the go. Then came the rain and ruined everything again. Back to the floods, course closures but worse of all the people, who again, have had to put up with being evacuated and leaving their houses to the elements. Our thoughts are with you all.

In the last newsletter I mentioned that The Coast had been cancelled. Joan Dunn, the VWGA delegate, has kindly offered the course up again for later this year. So please check your diaries for November 21st and the VWGA website for the entry form.

The Tournament programme is up and running again as ladies are getting back into their stride. We had good numbers for Pambula and Castle Hill. Beverley Park (1st August) was rain affected and was getting back into shape. I hope it can recover in four weeks’ time. Bowral closed quite early with a full contingent of about 110 each day. The Metropolitan Championships were to be be held at Eastlakes this year on
September 29th. Unfortunately, we have just been notified that this will have to be cancelled as the club house will be undergoing major renovations. We will keep you all posted as to which golf course will be asked to take on our most prestigious event.

We welcomed a new committee member at our last meeting. Lana Debnam from Wakehurst. We also have a new volunteer, Jane Sherlock from Beverley Park. It is always pleasing to get new blood onto the committee, and I am sure that both these ladies will be great assets.

The country tournaments for 2023 have now been finalised. They are:
Port Macquarie: Monday 27 & Tuesday 28 February 2023
Cootamundra: Thursday 25 & Friday 26 May 2023
Muswellbrook: Monday 4 & Tuesday 5 September 2023
Albury: Monday 16 & Tuesday 17 October 2023
