August Newsletter

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
I would like to thank Virginnia Hewitt for presenting her report in the last Newsletter in my stead. I was fortunate enough to get a road trip in around NSW before COVID19 reared its ugly head again. I was only back less than two weeks before the talk of restrictions. Since then, it has been quite dismal especially in locations throughout NSW which have been in lockdown.

In Sydney we are still able to play golf but back to those funny rules. Only playing in twos, bunkers with no rakes and a preferred lie and no touching the flag sticks. But we are still able to play, and it does get us out of the house for a few hours. I miss the camaraderie though, no presentations or any social contact with other ladies in the field. A game and then home.

From time to time, we get queries about our relationship with the NSWVGA. We are two separate organisations with one goal. That is to get veteran golfers out onto the golf courses by organising tournaments. The NSWVGA have men and women members; we only have women. The NSWVGA age range starts from 55; ours is 50. Any VWGA lady member can play in the NSWVGA Week of Golf tournaments at no additional cost. If the VWGA member plays in a NSWVGA shield event she is unable to win the shield, but she can win minor trophies. To win the NSWVGA shield she must join the NSWVGA at a cost of $5.00.

Take care everyone,

Jacky
